About the event

The God Dionysos has come to Earth in human form, arriving in Thebes intent on establishing his dead mother's honour as the progenitor of a God. When Pentheus, the King of Thebes and Dionysos' own cousin, refuses to acknowledge the stranger as a God, Dionysos manipulates the oppressed women of Thebes to enact his revenge on a society, and family, stuck in their ways...

The Durham University Classical Theatre and St Chad's College Green Door Theatre Company come together to present a chilling, modern take on Euripides' classic text in the Cassidy Quad at St Chad's College.
