Our Country's Good

In 1788 the First Fleet lands in Sydney, Australia, with a group of British convicts sentenced to transportation to the first colony in New South Wales. As disorder rages in the penal camp and the officers struggle to keep control, junior Marine Ralph Clark decides to stage a play with the convicts as actors. Whilst officers and convicts alike debate the power of theatre to transcend the Australian wilderness, Ralph finds himself increasingly drawn into the world of his company as the boundaries between prisoner and gaoler start to blur.
